I have always wondered why men seem most attracted to sweet women. Is it the suggested helplessness or simply the suggestion of dependence that seems to make them so desirable? I will say that all, not most, but all of my male friends are drawn to this type of woman. The sweet woman seems overly agreeable and is always hesitant to utter an unkind word. The sweet woman is careful not to openly voice her opinion if it is not an opinion held by the majority. The sweet woman seems patient and caring and almost fragile. She is careful not to raise her voice and would never make a scene, no matter how bad the service was. I have never been this woman. I have at times wanted to be this woman because she seems to possess a power over men. Men want to take care of her, because she is after all a delicate flower without the hint of a thorn.
So where does this leave the strong woman? The woman who takes no crap and speaks her mind regardless of the circumstances, the woman who openly and sometimes loudly voices her opinion, the woman who doesn’t play games just to impress a man. I call this woman, the strong woman; others may call her a bitch. It takes a certain kind of man to find a strong assertive woman attractive, a man who is secure and who appreciates a partner with a mind of her own. It takes a man who is not a lover of duplicity or servitude. It is a misnomer that most strong women want a man that they can walk all over and dominate. We want a man who can appreciate our passionate points of view, and who is not threatened by our honesty and yes, we want a man who is strong, physically and mentally. We strong women want our men to fight for our honor and protect us from creatures large and small, we want to be cherished and valued and loved and if we’re not we will damn sure let you know it!
