The GOP Unmasked

The degeneration of the Republican Party into what has become a party ensconced in racism is largely due to the party’s acceptance of talk show host and supreme sexist and racist Rush Limbaugh as their spokesman, as well as the GOP’s affiliation with other racist pundits. Their refusal to distance themselves from nonsensical fanatics such as the "Birthers" and "Teabaggers"  has made them fodder for both comics and the media.  The Republican party was once known as nothing more than a party largely comprised of affluent conservatives and evangelicals, a party that embraced Christian values, a pull yourself up by the bootstraps mentality and a commitment to support corporate America first and foremost.

The GOP in their inability to accept Barack Obama as their new President says more about their feelings on race than their views on politics.   There is an undeniable ugliness not only displayed in the actions of the GOP but in those they allow to speak for them.  They desperately want the President to fail and have publicly said as much and one does not have to ask why.   There is another war going on and it is almost as dangerous as the one our brave soldiers are fighting.   This war is within the senate and is likely to have even more casualties.

The American people, both Republicans and Democrats want many of the same things and the unwillingness of the GOP in their refusal to accept their new President is a futile crusade and one I don’t believe the American people want or need. The GOP has been unmasked and the racism that was once merely perceived has now proven itself.  The white sheets of the GOP must be discarded before we can move forward and prosper as a nation.   The first step I believe would be for them to accept that their new President is an African American.   The steps that follow should be prove much simpler.
